Its like the popular crowd having a party you cant go cuz youre not cool enough butttt still watch the party and love them idk why

It used to be everyone knew the movies and had already watched them in the theaters. Everyone had their favorite. There was a curiosity to see how they'd make out with the Oscars.
Nowadays most people don't know the films until they're nominated. It's not very interesting watching an awards show for something you're unfamiliar with.
