It's meant to be a way to filter out content you don't want to see without blocking the user, as well as a minor tag for stuff that could be problematic like misinformation.

Some people are sensitive, and might have a meltdown if they see that one of their "friends" gave them a thumbs down.

It's an unnecessary feature in my opinion.

The owners of the site want to make sure our visit here isn't a pleasant one.

And they want everyone against each other by giving shadow dwellers tools to lurk and cause people to feel bad about what they Post/Comment/Reply

If only management can see it, it means that they want us to be spies for them and report other members' posts that we find offensive. I don't do it.
