Time machine question - would you rather visit with your ancestors from 200 yrs ago?

Or have a chat with your descendants and/or relatives 200 yrs into the future?
Two hundred years in the past. My ancestors would be in the same village as I was born. agricultural, life very hard. Disease too, cholera wiped out most of the village in 1850.

The future. Bleak. Are we free to speak. Chinese clones.

If you were forced to visit one or the other, you'd have no choice but to visit the past. 1824 is a generation before the epidemic.
Neither. None of my ancestors spoke English in 1824. 😅
And I won’t have descendants. If I did, I wouldn’t want to see the future. I’d hate to hear just how bad things get.
First off, I will have no descendants and if I did, I would still choose the ancestors because I don't believe humanity will exist 200 years from now (I question 20 years from now)

Yeah - the future does seems like an iffy deal... an even more malevolent and grabby Putin-type could set the globe on fire right quick.

Definitely the future.

I'll remember that! I was a truck driver and/or a steelworker so please excuse my inattention to detail 😂

@SW-User I'm not sure inattention and truck driving should be in the same sentence!

It just occurred to me the future may not be on Earth...

@SW-User not if we keep Pitt ng it at risk.

A rather bleak prospect realistically. I’d be sent out into the fields with my ancestors—or sold. And I’ll have no descendants.

Bleak indeed (about the past). Maybe I should've said "relatives" in the future (because I have no biological kids myself). I'm aware of and sorry about the loss of your son.
@SW-User My middle sister has stepchildren, our brother is childless (as far as he knows). And our baby sister’s daughter is gay, which doesn’t mean no children, although at 23 my niece doesn’t seem that interested.

But we do have tons of cousins. 😳
I would go back to July 17, 1980 to prevent my mother from taking my older brothers and me from Oregon to iowa early the next day, I would show my Dad his own funeral home memorial card from iowa seven months and seven days later from that date, and explain to him everything that happened during those dates.
