Why do so many "comedians" laugh at their own jokes?

@HijabaDabbaDoo The fourth wall? I don't know what that is, but I do know that I'm more inclined to laugh at something said by a stand-up comedian when they don't laugh, because what they've said is actually funny.

@HijabaDabbaDoo Exactly. Like when someone says "I crack myself up" same sort of concept. It's funny, they thought so too.
