POSSUM CREEK WOMAN CLAIMS SHE’S PREGNANT WITH BIGFOOT’S CHILD, SAYS SHE HAS “PROOF”
POSSUM CREEK, Ohio — Sept. 14, 2026 — A Possum Creek woman who claims she spent much of the summer involved in a secret romantic relationship with a creature she believes was Bigfoot says she is now pregnant with his child.
Rhonda Sue Pritchard, 54, says the relationship began in late July when she noticed an unusually large, hairy figure watching her from the woods behind her home.
“At first I thought it was a bear,” Pritchard said. “Then he stood up and I thought, well that’s no bear.”
Pritchard says the creature returned several evenings in a row but initially refused to come near the house.
Then the gifts started.
“The first time it was three apples,” she said. “Then some wildflowers. Then a hubcap. One night he left me a dead squirrel. I didn’t particularly care for that one, but I appreciated the thought.”
Pritchard believes the gifts were part of an elaborate courtship.
“Men don’t court women anymore,” she said. “Gary did.”
Gary is the name Pritchard eventually gave the creature.
She describes him as approximately 7 feet 8 inches tall and between 450 and 500 pounds, with unusually long arms and almost his entire body covered in reddish-brown hair.
“He had brown eyes and surprisingly nice teeth,” Pritchard said. “There was a little gray coming in around his chin, so I think he was probably older.”
She also remembers his smell.
“Wet dog, onions and a little bit of gasoline,” she said. “You got used to it.”
By early August, Pritchard says she began leaving peanut butter sandwiches, beef jerky and Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies near the woods.
Gary apparently preferred the Oatmeal Creme Pies.
“He wouldn’t touch the Swiss Rolls,” she said. “That’s when I knew he had standards.”
By mid-August, Pritchard says Gary had become comfortable enough to sit approximately 20 feet from her back porch while she drank her morning coffee.
Communication was limited.
“He never said much,” Pritchard said. “Which was honestly refreshing after my second husband.”
Pritchard claims their relationship eventually became romantic and later intimate.
She declined to provide further details.
“This is still a newspaper,” she said.
Pritchard says she last saw Gary on Sept. 2, when he disappeared into the woods shortly before sunrise and never returned.
Then, last week, she began feeling sick.
Pritchard reported fatigue, nausea, headaches and what she described as “a feeling only a mother knows.”
On Friday, Sept. 11, she took a home test.
It showed two lines.
Pritchard provided The Possum Creek Times with a photograph of the test Sunday afternoon.
“There it is,” she said, pointing to the result. “You can’t argue with science.”
Pritchard said the test confirmed what she already suspected.
“I’m carrying Gary’s baby.”
She also claims she has additional physical evidence proving the relationship occurred, including approximately 30 coarse reddish-brown hairs collected from her bedroom, a plaster cast of a 17-inch footprint, several blurry photographs and a bedsheet she has sealed inside a kitchen trash bag.
“I knew nobody would believe me,” Pritchard said. “That’s why I kept evidence.”
However, shortly before publication Sunday evening, Pritchard’s daughter, Amanda Pritchard, contacted The Possum Creek Times after learning her mother had spoken with a reporter.
Amanda disputed several portions of her mother’s account.
Most importantly, she says her mother is not pregnant.
“That’s a COVID test,” Amanda said. “She has COVID.”
According to Amanda, she personally purchased the at-home COVID-19 test and brought it to her mother’s house after Pritchard complained of feeling sick.
“I handed it to her myself,” Amanda said. “I don’t know how we got from COVID to a Sasquatch baby.”
The test packaging was subsequently located in Pritchard’s kitchen trash.
Pritchard was shown the box Sunday evening and informed that the test she had taken was, in fact, for COVID-19.
She examined the packaging for several seconds.
“Then why’s there two lines?” she asked.
Pritchard was informed that two lines indicate a positive COVID result.
She looked at the box again.
“Well I’ll be damned.”
She then asked whether COVID could cause “a false pregnancy.”
Her daughter told her it could not.
Pritchard has since withdrawn her claim that she is pregnant with Bigfoot’s child.
She has not, however, withdrawn her claim that she spent several weeks in an intimate relationship with Bigfoot.
“That part still happened,” Pritchard said.
She also continues to leave Oatmeal Creme Pies near the woods in case Gary returns.
Amanda declined further comment.
