What happened to good old-fashioned censorship?

It's now called 'redaction'.

Well, there's nothing copulatory about it, but it's probably, though pointlessly, thought a useful euphemism.

I think the word "redacting" is silly - even if politicians won't use "censoring", journalists reporting them should.

Where did even come from? It seems a very recent invention, probably by someone with a fancy non-title like "Chief Communications Officer".

Censorship just encourages our imaginations to think of something worse than that which has been censored.
