People whining about the 25% automobile tariff don't understand, the point isn't to pay the tariff, the point is people will buy American made cars

Most of the vehicles assembled in the US are not suitable for UK roads for reasons of physical size, driving position, inefficient engines with poor fuel consumption and extremely good competitive alternatives.

Having said that, I do admire the classic American vehicles that turn up at various car rallies over here, for their nostalgic value, but they are for show not practicality.

@Punches But American cars were always designed as works of art for status. Not practical motering..😷

@FreddieUK Every American made car I have owned has been a dud. I will never buy American cars again, and looking at the pricing I couldn't afford it anyways. They are for people happy with being in debt who spend a lot of time at the repair depot.

I purposely buy from other countries. I didn't ask for Trump so I'm not doing what he says 🥴

And that pretty much says it all😷

If he truly wanted to make America great again, he would tell Detroit to truly embrace Quality Assurance -- a concept first offered to them, but then taken to Japan in the 60's when the proponent was rebuffed -- and abandon their long-standing philosophy of planned obsolescence.

@Punches There are generations of us who would never consider an American brand vehicle.

@Crazywaterspring I remember in the 90's when they were trying to pretend that American cars were going to revive quality. They LOOKED really nice but still suffered serious problems.
