Ever see faces perhaps?

Seeing faces in everything, or pareidolia, is a common psychological phenomenon where the mind perceives familiar patterns, often faces, in random or ambiguous visual stimuli.

It's actually quite easy for the mind to do. I knew their was a word for it I couldn't recall so I asked one Chat gpt variants

The tendency for the human mind to perceive faces in random or ambiguous patterns is known as pareidolia. This phenomenon occurs because the brain is hardwired to recognize and process faces very efficiently, as face recognition is an important survival skill.

@Punxi Ha you had the word in your post. I need slow my mind down when reading.

@Gibbon Good stuff. Never knew it's definition myself. Using the mind all along and here I thought it was usin' me.

@Punxi There's actually a lot more to that chat reply as well as searching Why is it easy for the mind to see faces in clouds and objects.

@Punxi I never knew the name for it. Interesting

@Coralmist I met a young man recently whom paints those patterns he "sees" .... Extraordinary.

I actually have a tough time seeing it, even in memes meant to bring attention to funny faces in everyday objects. It always takes me several seconds or more to see the 'face'

@Punxi Yes. As a kid it was a dramatic feeling. I still get it now, sometimes, but it feels muted compared
Punxi · F
@faery Cool.... I've a notion all these seemingly random sensations gravitate from the same recess in our brain...s. Gracias.

@Punxi Yes, it's highly likely, imo. Like when people hear their name on the breeze while on a quiet walk in the woods. The brain just fills in space with things that look, sound, feel, etc... like things we've seen, heard, felt before. Yer welcome ☺

All the time. The shadow that the curtains make on the ceiling when I turn on my lamp in the bedroom looks like Abraham Lincoln's silhouette
