I heard the word “slip” and it reminded me of the days of yore.

We ACTUALLY used to say to strange other women, “Pardon me, Miss, your slip is showing.”

Today you’d likely get tazed, pepper-sprayed, and disemboweled.

I was on a jury a couple of years ago, and both attorneys were female. While one was making her opening remarks, her skirt became unfastened in back and drooped to show her white slip. We could see it. The opposing attorney's team could see it, and the judge could see it. The opposing attorney sent a note to the other side, and they stopped their speaker so she could make a repair. At that point, the judge, also female, said, "Okay, everybody. It's okay to laugh now." And we did.

@Levenrack It’s underwear, but not knickers. It’s much like a sleeveless dress, I presume to help disguise the interesting parts. The basic premise was…if Mom can see the outlines of your legs, a slip is required. There was also a half-slip, a slip cut off at the waist and elasticized.
