Work management email: As a thank you for all of your hard work, we would like to offer the team July 5th off! *Fireworks picture of glee attached*

Me, replying all: Silly-ish question, but..do we have to use our PTO to take the 5th off? If so, I would rather work that day.

Management: Yes.

Me to myself: Cool, so no OT like you promised, no raises, buttt..I can follow the normal PTO process to take a day off!!

is it ok to ask what business your company is in? You don't have to name the business.

It is kind of a sleezy tactic. feels like HR / Mgt doesn't really value their workforce enough to shoot straight with them on time off
