I have actually had that experience, once upon a time I stayed in Perugia Italy for a month as part of some school exchange program but me and few others got a room outside the city as that was what we could afford to some pretty scenic area, in a building where workers and immigrants lived. The accommodation was satisfying despite the odds, but the whole building looked like it came out of some thriller movie, standing by itself somewhere. That "somewhere" was half an hour walking to the school we were supposed to be going daily, in the middle of snowy paths that none was clearing. It was...a scenic route...I actually loved it, but I ended up with high fever and unable to move anywhere for half the period I stayed. Not the casual parents story but a story :)

I believe him because he lived on a ranch and had to walk to the bus. i dont know if he always made it all the way to school though.
I think he played a little hookie too
He used to tell me how he would push his car down the road so his parents wouldn't know he was sneaking out at night.

My dad told me he walked miles in snow, uphill both ways. I believed him until I was a teenager when my mom told me he lived across the street from the school, and didn’t even have to cross the street, he walked through an alleyway 🫩

Not mine cause I had to walk prob just as far in the Bronx to school in snow to my knees- there was only one snow day from K-8. If buses couldn’t drive, we had to walk.

Mine always said The snow was up to the big kid’s shoulders!!
Uphill.. bothways
Up hill.

Both ways
Backwards, blindfolded, hopping on one toe on their right foot which also happened to be broken in their shoes which were not name brand in the snow, up Mt mf Everest in a tank top and some tattered gym shorts, so "dammit you should be grateful!😠" Yes of course lol
I hope that those shoes had cardboard in them for the leaks...

Must have been a more upper class town since they have shoes and coats.
