Iv been thinking latley about humanity as a species and know i have a distorted view of the world due to my current situation in life.
what do you think are some things that can be defined as human nature rather than learned traits we gain from the environment and culture we are born into?

I have little bit different stance when it comes to looking at this.
Having dealt with natural science a great deal of my life, I see everything as within the confines of natural laws including environmentally nurtured tendencies..nothing can exist outside of being innate and natural. We aren't capable of doing something that we didn't have the innate impulses to evolve into doing in the first place.
That however doesn't negate our ability to outgrow whatever we deem as a step back in our progress..natural and unchangeable are two different topics.
Are there aspects of us that exist independently of our cultural exposures? Yes, either independently or depending on dynamic of defiance. You can grow up in community that glorifies selfishness yet be selfless and vise versa...you can be taught racism but never embrace it...etc This depends on the individual.
