This new Liberal warhawk movement cracks me up

I wouldn’t be surprised if most of them protested the Iraq war. Yet here they are now, gulping up the same state sponsored messaging and falling for this endless proxy war grift. Now they all sound like George Dubya, and they even have their own version of George Dubya in the White House! I guess that’s muh partisan politics for yah. 🤣

It's almost like Iraq was a war you've actively engaged over bullsh*t reasons. Russia/Ukraine is a war initiated by Russia for analogous bullsh*t reasons and in which we're at most propping up the defender, without actively taking part to it. If anything, opposing both US against Iraq and Russia against Ukraine is the most coherent position.

It's almost like those who were "totally not colluded with Russia" in spite of enormous heaps of coincidences, including but not limited to fretting to obstruct the only serious investigation on the matter (that didn't exclude anything) are upset by the fact daddy Putin soon enough won't be able to fund their future political campaigns.

@SumKindaMunster I had noticed (and replied to) that one, just not the very last one!

@SumKindaMunster Oh and yeah I've put the * to indicate this time I've gotten it right 😅 Unfortunately it's a “false friend” word for me

@Elessar Thanks for clarifying. I read through your discussion with Burnley as it happened and feel like you guys covered the wide gamut of the issue well past where I care about it.
The problem is: how? Russia has abundantly demonstrated that they don't intend to negotiate and that if they do it's only to take time until they'll launch a new offensive. This is the second time they pull this shìt.
Well that's the rub of ending a war with someone. You will have to act in good faith. Are you aware of the World War 1 Christmas Day Armitice? If it could happen then, why not now? The truth is that the US has also not allowed this conflict to end and has blocked attempts to end the fighting. You aware that Israel tried to negotiate a truce and they were blocked by Biden and Boris Johnson?

Predatory wars of aggression must not be tolerated.
You, and Putin, seem to be forgetting a three-way treaty known as the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.

There's a three-way treaty known as the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.

Essentially, Ukraine agreed to give up all its nuclear weapons to Russia in exchange for safety from a U.S. or Russian invasion. Russia's invasion of Ukraine violates that treaty. And as a signatory to that 1994 Budapest Memorandum, the U.S. has a definite interest in righting Putin's current wrongs.
In the final version of the deal, Russia promised not to attack Ukraine. While the U.S. and the U.K. assured Ukraine they would aid if it was attacked by Russia, that promised aid did not guarantee military support like a NATO country would receive.

In 2009, Russia and the U.S. announced that the assurances in the Budapest Memorandum would continue to remain in effect in the future.

Russia promised specifically NOT to invade Ukraine, and the U.S. promised specifically to ASSIST Ukraine if the treaty were ever violated. And that's what the U.S. is doing now.
What are you talking about now ? Most on both sides supported going into Iraq initially; it was right after 9/11 and people were willing to believe the lie the GOP sold about "weapons of mass destruction". That turned out to be false, and even most Republicans recognize that now.
But if you’re referring to the efforts to assist the Ukraine, they were attacked by the Russians. You can ask some of members who live there and are dealing with the fallout now.
But what’s mindblowing to me is how the Republicans suddenly love Russia. Ronald Reagan must be turning in his grave. 😳

There were plenty of Democrat hawks during the Vietnam war as well.
They go with what ever their tv tells them to on the day..

Bush- war - bad
Obama-drone striking kids hospitals- good

Same freaking ppl

America/nato invading countries for 40 years on media lies-good.
Putin invades Russia- bad

Same freaking ppl
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Who was anti-Iraq War and pro-drone strike?
Anti republicans
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Who? I'd like to laugh at them.
Damn, I miss the good ole days of republicans being the warmongers and democrats being the party of peace and love. LOL
@YourMomsSecretCrush Do you miss the days when you hated Russia and were telling anyone who criticized the U.S. to "move there" ?
@YourMomsSecretCrush Actually sending arms to Ukraine has had strong bipartisan support for the last 2+ years. That's the only way Congress could have approved $113 Billion of aid to Ukraine in 2022. Yep, bipartisan in both houses.

Some people have suggested appeasement, but that hasn't been a popular approach.
@bijouxbroussard stop, I’m welling up with tears just thinking about it. 😂

Americans can barely remember what happened last month, you really expect them to remember 20 years ago?

I certainly don't disagree with you, and have found it both amusing and unsettling to see left wing Liberals foaming at the mouth calling for Russian "orc" blood and calling anyone who opposes the Ukraine war Russian indoctrinates.

Putin is W in this situation.
