Why are farts so funny?

They always make me laugh, and very little else does. I don't know why, though. There's nothing inherently funny about this function.

I think maybe it's one of those things that isn't considered "propper" by the hoity-toity,
And that in itself makes it funny...

Really, I consider almost anything that annoys the hoity-toity to be freaking hilarious by default
