Do people actually come on here to socialize? Very rarely do conversations go beyond surface...

Not to say there aren’t deeper conversations to be had but some people have lives filled with all kinds of problems and surface level, lightness and laughter can be a welcome relief. I know it has been for me quite often.

I'm sure they do. I discovered this site by chance, but it's quite fun and most people on it seem pretty friendly. I guess everyone is different: it depends what they're looking for.

Not everyone has the same definition of "socializing". It needn’t be the same as yours; people take what they need. The site is a good fit for some, less so for others.

Yeah, that's what sites like this are for. 😅 But if you're new it takes time before you start feeling welcome. At least that was my experience.

I frequently have chats which last several hours. I've always been highly inquisitive by nature - and on my side there's nothing which is taboo. I'm the proverbial open book - largely because the site is anonymous

Indeed, that's most of the Internet though. It's always just surface-level; however, here and there you meet someone you can get deeper with. It's more rare ... but you'll know when you know.

You'll find some are here for a few laughs and light conversation. There are some who want to socialize but beware of what is meant by 'socialize'.
