Yes. My feelings for someone do not depend on my proximity to them. I love my Dad, and he's in heaven. I love my brother, and he's on the other side of the country. And I dearly love someone on the other side of the ocean. Meanwhile, in my first marriage, I never felt so alone. It's not the distance, it's the care, respect, trust, and communication between people that matters.

I think that everyone knows what you're talking about. Well, I consider them so, or rather try to act like it is. There was this person on here who talked about ending her life continously so I objected to it because it's indeed not something one likes to read continously when one also know that some on here are really struggling with life. In short, one tries to comfort friends or rather make their lives not extra difficult. That's the essence of what it should be like, I believe

Welcome to Similar Worlds Rapunzel..
Yeah a small handful of online friends I do. I mean most people online not so much but some you do just click with in a way that the conversations are really easy so you can build some kind of depth.

I think online friends can be better than physical friends.

I concur @Fairydust

Some of my online friends are actually closer than my RL friends. I can actually have an intelligent conversation with one or two of them. And I can stay in touch every day.

I've never had a bond with someone I met in person that was as strong as some of the ones I've had online.

My friends here are part of my life, I'll always love them, even if I never get to even hear the sound of their voices.

Are you asking if my real-life friends are different from my online friends? Before, I thought they were separate. But as I get older and learn more about myself, they start to feel the same.

I've got one I think very highly of but I've known her since EP. The rest are more like acquaintances

You described it perfectly. What a great question, I'll be watching this thread to hear what others think.

Not really, no. Different and the reality not as lasting - but say things etc I wouldn’t do as quickly with freinds in real life.
ReneeT · 61-69, F
I think that you can talk with physical friends more frequently than online friends. But I still value my online friends
bijouxbroussard · F
Yes. There are people with whom I’ve been talking for about 15 years now. A couple have my personal phone so they can call me if I’m not online.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
Absolutely. They mean as much to me as my real life friends
My online friends were always my closest friends.
But i love them both just the same
