How do adults even have friends??

My life is so full of everyday grind- work, shopping, cooking, cleaning, preparing for the following workday, etc. I have no time to actually just drop everything and go hang out somewhere with a friend. 😔

Recently a girl gave me her number so we could maybe hang out sometime because we have both only been in Phoenix for a year and we have no friends here. But after a brief text conversation yesterday, we haven't reached out to one another since, and we probably won't. 😕

You can set a day where you’ll be slightly less busy than other days, and potentially put off cleaning for that one day. You’ll only really need to do that once or twice a month.
I like to add friends into what I already have to or was going to do. If I have to pick up something at Sephora I’ll ask a friend I know likes skincare and makeup if she’d like to go. And you can add picking up a drink/snack/meal while you’re at it. “Do you wanna get a tea and browse Sephora this Thursday?”
You can do that with allll kinds of things, and it doesn’t have to take too much time. It might take half an hour longer than if you went yourself.
You can have someone go grocery shopping with you, or if you meal prep, you can do that together.
I saw you said you know someone who likes to read. I used to go to a diner every Saturday night and have dessert and coffee and read, and I would invite someone to go with me. If they couldn’t, I’d be happy doing it alone, but they usually came. We eventually started bringing our 3DS’s and played animal crossing together.

Socal media is a good starting place ...I have a very busy job so struggle at times with the work life balance. So I use my social media to chat and make friends and if local to me arrange to meet when able to

Mostly I invite people over for dinner. Sometimes I skipped the cooking/cleaning up after part to grab food with them at a restaurant.
It’s nice when you have friends who share your hobbies because you can multitask hanging out with an activity that you both find replenishing.

@WhateverWorks I have yet to meet anyone who shares my interests other than reading.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
Usually you find them by joining a special interests group in your area. That’s one thing Facebook is still good for. @DearAmbellina2113

I found mine while I was drunk, and just decided to keep them

If you have friends, are you truly an adult? 🤔

I used to worry so much about not having friends. Now I'm so busy I don't have time for friends anyway. So I don't worry anymore

Since you like reading, can you join a book discussion group?
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@DrWatson if I can find one

Try again. It could actually develop into a real friendship. 🤗

i have the same problem. no time to do anything and i am single.
I could have friends if I invested the time just like you say. However, I prefer to just come on SW and use it as my social outlet instead. This, my spanish tutor, hookers, and strippers.

You never know, what everyday grind you are dealing with, if you open up with someone, somewhere, you might find they are experiencing much like you.

I don't have friends. I found when I was raising my daughter I was just busy and didn't feel like hanging out with friends.

Buy a bottle of Jagermeister and turn up on her doorstep with it.
