Are you a friends person, or a non-friends person?

I've pretty much been a non-friends person my whole life. I believe this is because I've been neuro-atypical and socially phobic my whole life. It reflects in my views on sex and relationships also.

I have zero knowledge of whether this is from birth (or pre-birth) or caused by (very) early childhood conditioning based around what I recall as being a very unhealthy psychologically-speaking family situation. My parents are both dead so can't ask them.

I have a small close friendship group, there's five of us in total, we have known each other a long time, I met most of them through work. I also have a wider circle who I don't trust as much but are still fun to be around.

I'm guessing the reason you prefer to be quite insular is because of your ASD. My son is the same, he much prefers his own company.
