Another weekend sober while friends be boozing their lifes away. Lol why do i feel like i am missing out on that kind of fun. I just dont trust myself just yet, i be over doing it. Devil has just being trying to get me to relapse these days, i just clench up tight when i am offered a drink by my friends, has me running away lol

That is great you have control over it. You can still hang out with them if you don't mind drunks. Be the designated driver. Drink soda water.

@MisterBander i drink a lot of water these days lol

That's hard, particularly when all your friends are drinking. Take pride in your strength though and what that means for you going forwards.

I'm in northern Alberta and there's a lot of alcoholism here and in my family too. I love booze but I have to put some stiff rules on myself so I dont' turn out like so many.

@CountScrofula Yah same goes for here too, i am constantly it an its always offered to me and when i was a willing participant when I was drinking. No one f****** offered me to drink lol 😆

It takes time but remember, a lot has to change in your life. New friends, new hobbies new ways to spend your time. I know you miss your friends. But were they helping you become sober or part of the problem? You’re going places. Keep marching forward and keep busy with new things. You got this.

I left people because they drink or having alcoholic friends and because I been disrespected by a guy who used to drink every weekend I don’t accept dating anyone like that. God is it difficult when it is the socially acceptable and encouraged thing to do. If you manage to not resent them I applaud you.
I am a recovering alcoholic. Take it from me, every day is a struggle, but each day gets a little easier. In a while you won't even consciously remember that you ever got drunk.
I'm 48 years sober.
A million drinks would never be enough, but that first one would be too many.

@RockinPop54 wow i aspire to make it this far even thou i still want to drink after i have control over my drug addiction bc i am still not jus there yet, its still hard bc everyone i know is useing crack an they use it while i am around.
@Sunch74 Busy you mind with something - ANYTHING that will keep you occupied & fully engrossed. Find or create an interesting hobby or activity.
Mine was the guitar & model railroading. They kept me busy constantly!

You need new friends who have fun without alcohol. There are lots of people out there like that. You need to find some of them.
Sunch74 · 31-35, F
@Muthafukajones omg yes, i do need more sober friends irl. But unfortunately everyone likes "dwinking" how my drunk friends pronounce it when they blitz 🤣🤣

I know the temptation can be rough, but you keep going. You will thank yourself one day that you got a much better and healthier life now :)

Smart move. You know old friends can lead to old habits and thats not you any more..😷

@Sunch74 🤔keep up the good work you are showing a lot of courage and determination not to give into temptation despite your friends
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
Stay your course. The moments of enjoyment arent worth the impact if it causes you to skid out of control.
