I'm really interested to gauge the support, by various genders, ages and nationalities, for circumcision.

And the reasons why - thanks.

Keep your fucking hands off baby's foreskins.

The fuck is wrong with people.
Whodunnit · M
Circumcision for ANY reason outside of absolutely necessary medical intervention is child abuse and genital mutilation. I include religious beliefs AND spurious medical claims within that.

Even some cases of phimosis can be treated without the need for surgery.

If however someone wishes to get circumcised once they reach adulthood then that's totally up to them and I have no issue with it.

Female USA I did not get my son circumcised. I feel it's medically unnecessary and it mutilation. I got a lot of shit from people, but I did my research when I was pregnant and I decided.
Josh1454 · M
@SW-User one time someone said it was faster to clean. And this is a tmi moment, I responded “I bet it takes just as long for me to clean my uncircumcised penis as it does for you to clean your circumcised.” Plus a sweaty penis is a sweaty penis, cut or uncut. Didn’t think I’d be saying that. 😂🤣
UpForItNow · 22-25, F
@SW-User You know, I completely understand the anti-circ view and it'd normally be the way I think: human rights, unnecessary surgery and so forth. But there is something atavistic about this ritual that turns those cut into absolute advocates and this has assured its survival for what I understand is thousands of years.

@UpForItNow Just because people have done it as a tradition or a trend does not mean it should continue we are talking about progress here

Against. Well 1, it must be painful 2, someone might want their foreskin, 3 it's not a comand in The New Testament...4 it must get a bit uncomfortable down there at times.
Rickg · 31-35, M
Zero support

Should never be forced on children
It’s child abuse
Docdon23 · M
totally opposed--it is genital mutilation on an innocent baby...doing the same to females is illegal most places..it is an outdated religious relic intended to prevent masturbation, ha ha...and with modern showers and baths there is no science supporting it, only doctors making money for a useless harmful process...to look like dad? because some women prefer how it looks? What if i say i like how a pussy with the clitoral hood removed looks...

I would agree the circumcision of women is genital mutilation. However for men in Christian countries, it is performed soon after birth in a simple painless procedure. My husband is circumcised as is my son. And I find the appearance of an uncircumcised penis unpleasant and unclean .
edtur61 · 61-69, M
I’m snipped but my son now in his 30s isn’t, in my day it was done without question thankfully today it’s not the way to go unless there is a medical reason, a good friend of mine was circumcised when he was in his late 20s poor bloke was in agony but it was necessary for health reasons and his choice.
I'm glad that I'm circumcised, but I think it is kinda bad that it's done to babies. It should be something people choose when they're old enough to consent.
Male USA. I have a friend (in his 70s now) who grew up uncircumcised, was drafted into the Army and they circumcised him. He said he had had sex both ways; circumcision didn't interfere with sex. When my wife & I had a baby boy, we decided to leave him uncircumcised, knowing that if he really wanted it he could make his own decision later.

So I support leaving it up to the individual, not to the parents.

P.S. full disclosure: my parents had me circumcised as an infant.

Like it's all I've ever known at the same time it's kind of fucked up that I didn't have a choice, yeah?
Male, USA.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
Mine was done not long after birth as it was with many male babies in the 50's and 60's in America. I don't see anything wrong with it if it's what the parents want, the baby won't remember it, ever. I also don't consider it to be "mutilation" as some say.

I am not against circumcision of males..

Because it has health benefits..
Josh1454 · M
@Adstar you realize 100 years ago a good study said tobacco was good for you. We know now that it isn’t. It’s called science and we learn new stuff every day. Go ask a doctor if there is any medical value to it. They will say no. Other than like he said above, in countries where access to clean water soap, it isn’t necessary. The only physical thing it does is remove skin from the body and dull the sensation of the head of the penis. It literally does nothing more.

Do you realise over 100 years ago Albert Einstein published the theory of special relativity in 1905..

See how using irrelavant examples has no effect Josh..

I'm against it ...it's barbaric
UpForItNow · 22-25, F
I should disclose my own position (Anglo-Australian, 53), I had myself cut at 38 for aesthetic/sexual reasons, also had my two stepsons done, to look like me and because their mother (42, Malaysian Chinese) prefers it for the same reasons.
Lanyx · 41-45, M
Male in Poland, views from South Africa. Pro circumcision even though I'm not. It feels more hygienic, it looks better circumcised. I want to get the operation done myself some time in the near future.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
62. American. Circumcised, which I much prefer. To me, a foreskin looks horrible and is more uncleanly.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Adogslife So wash your dick, bro.
pdockal · 56-60, M
I am
Easier to keep clean and healthy
But to each their own
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Okay.

47 year old white American male, not in favor of cutting something with that many nerve endings in it off a baby.
Elysese · 70-79, M
@UpForItNow I'm very sorry to know this but not surprised. Exactly the same as my doc friend told me.
UpForItNow · 22-25, F
@Elysese It's strange though, despite the keratinization of the glans and loss of the gliding motion of the foreskin, there is a different, quite voluptuous sensation during oral sex. Possibly hard and frequent masturbation (certainly not adversely affected) have also been a factor in delayed ejaculation during intercourse. Also, the female partner may well appreciate that.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Female in Canada. Against it, I didn’t have my boys done. It’s genital mutilation.
Docdon23 · M
@iamonfire696 thank you andf I agree--and there are no studies showing it is any healthier
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Docdon23 exactly, it is mutilation.
Docdon23 · M
@iamonfire696 and it takes away the most pleasurable skin--it was done in the US, starting late 1800s, to stop boys from masturbating or enjoying sex--and it was also advocated to do it to girls for the same reasons!! Kellogg...religious fanatic.

I really don't care one way or the other, I think there are bigger fish to fry
