Do you ever feel like you died?

What I mean is when we grow or experience something that has changed us, we are no longer the same. I know we didn't die in a physical sense, but our thoughts, our ways, feelings , our mind has changed so much that I feel like I died.

I don't think of it as something that has died as much as a turn of the page. Growing and adapting in response to different stimuli creates changes in our perceptions and desires (brain chemistry) that makes us different. It's not a bad thing, we continue to evolve through life.

Yes. I felt that way after I divorced the third ex. When I tried to reconcile with him, I was so different. I had even changed my hair color. I was so active and energetic after more than a year away from him, that I could hear him thinking, "Who are you and what have you done with my wife?"

yeah i realised the old me died last year, i even deleted so many memories from my mind and phone as it felt like it didn't even belong to me as I'm such a different person now
Major life changes make it feel like a part of you died and reborn to something different and stronger.

Sometimes the dying part is painless, but other times, it felt like it was taking forever.

Those moments changed me. I would not trade them for anything. 🙂

Yes.
Part of me died when my mom died.

Yes ,in a way ..the old self died
I don't know if it's dead or lost but I definitely feel a part of who I was gone.
SW-User
@midnightrose I feel that too. It sucks and hurts. Chances are it's just your natural progression in life that also points to you what to nurture in your life?
@SW-User Yes. I realized that I had wasn't going to be able to go back to how it was before and that I have to make something new. I just haven't figured out what it is exactly.
SW-User
@midnightrose Me and you both. Whatever it is, I hope it's beneficial to you.

Maybe I'd pick the term re-born or evolved over died.
Being numb most of the time is one of my coping mechanisms. There are a lot of things that if I took too seriously I'll end up killing myself. Deep inside I know that this second part is wrong but still sometimes I do question why am I still here and I think I really have no idea but I'm here anyway.

Changed, not died.
@V00doo Being scared was the reason you lived in fear. Too scared to change, too scared of what might happen if you tried to get out of that situation.
But you did, you are stronger for it, don't let the fear creep back, ever. ❤🙏
@Mindfulness I think so. Years of conditioning to believe that having a voice wasnt right.
@V00doo I can't imagine what that must have felt like, constantly being fearful, watching every word every step.
But look at you now, look how vocal you can be. Concentrate on how far you've come. Be proud. ❤

No and that's maybe because no dramatic changes happened in my life so far. I feel like I don't even grow and evolve like people are supposed to. 😐
Emotional rebirth

Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I feel much better since leaving Christianity 45 years ago.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
To me it is more accurate to say it feels like another lifetime
10liters · 31-35, M

SW-User
