Exposing the hypocrisy of meat based diets

I'm not vegan but I've been getting more plant based lately and checking out different things. So far I haven't really ate meat for about a month now.

There's a lot I didn't know. I'm used to carnivore influencers but when you check out things they believe and what goes on behind the scenes, there's a lot of propaganda that comes with a meat based diet. A lot of things I previously believed aren't true.

I'm not going to go the ultra vegan route that meat is bad per se, obviously longer lived people eat meat too as well as vegans, that one vegan heart surgeon who lived to 98 but I have noticed I been doing better on a plant based diet.

I'm also not gonna lie, I've been plant based as a stance against right wingers who are all about their steaks. I hate their meanness so much this year.

At the end of the day, our bodies are actually adapted to a wide range of foods. The issues tend to come when mixing certain kinds of fat with certain kinds of carbs. It's not that fat is bad for you vs carbs are bad for you, it's the chemistry between them. High carb, low fat. High fat, low carb. Moderate fat, moderate carb. Our bodies are pretty good at managing all of those. It's the high fat, high carb combination that does a lot of damage.

I've done very well on a high meat keto diet in the past. I'll probably do it again in the future. Though I go meat heavy for satiation I am very nutrient minded and never went full carnivore.

Pretty sure I would be miserable if I went full carnivore or full vegan.

@ViciDraco You also have to take into account what you are asking your body to do. Most general views on "good" and "bad" diets assume the consumer is essentially a sedentary office worker. My dietary needs today are very different from when I was a teenager. My teenage daughter has a very active lifestyle and can process carbohydrates and protein much more efficiently than most of us.

@SunshineGirl Also true. Younger folks tend to be able to burn through calories much more efficiently. Also, our older bodies start getting impacted a lot more by shortages in fiber, iron, and calcium.

@ViciDraco Don't I know it 😬

@ViciDraco I'm not saying our bodies are not adaptable but there is a lot of propaganda out there too. I've done keto as well and felt great but also in the video it talks about people having to go to the hospital for heart issues on a carnivore diet.

You never hear those stories but they're out there. Apparently there's this big thing that you don't need statins, a lot of carnivores say that and someone ended up going to the hospital out of ignoring it due to a big movement in the carnivore community that you don't need statins. And the people saying it often have medical backgrounds which is why people listen to them on YouTube.

@SatanBurger and that's part of why I have never gone full carnivore.

Honestly, balanced whole foods seems to be optimal based on all of the actual science I've seen. You could theoretically process food to be healthier, but that's not what we do. We process it to be more addictive and so most of our processed foods are trash. Because profit motive is actually not at all aligned with human wellness. That's also why I never take influencers at face value.

@ViciDraco I'm sure you can be balanced omnivore but you can pretty balanced as a vegan too. They cherry pick people who are raw vegans or don't get their protein in but I can name 20 or so competitive swimmers, body builders and marathon runners who are vegan. It's not that hard, I was looking at what they eat and it's pretty simple. People make it harder cos they have food addiction.
