Hot and Sweet Burger Dogs

4 hot dog buns
1 lb hamburger
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
salt and pepper
2 slices American cheese, cut into 8 strips
Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce
Howard's Hot Pepper Relish
Non stick cooking spray.

In a medium sized bowl, mix together the hamburger, chopped onion, and salt and pepper. Form the meat mixture into "long meatballs", slightly larger than a normal hot dog.

Spray a frying pan with non stick cooking spray, and turn heat to medium low. Fry "burger dogs" on two sides till browned. Once you have flipped the burger dogs, lay the strips of cheese on top.

Open the hot dog rolls, and spread the Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue sauce on both sides of the inside of the bun.

When the burger dogs are cooked, lay them inside the hot dog buns, and top generously with Howard's Hot Pepper Relish, (about 2 heaping teaspoons full).

Burger dogs have just the right amount of sweet and heat!

2 to 4 servings.

I love it. I haven’t heard of Howard’s hot pepper relish before but I will be looking it up in a few minutes and buying some.

:) reminds me of why those White Castle sliders were so good. Especially at midnight.

@Heartlander I've had White Castle burgers, once, when we were traveling. They put liver into the burger meat, which gives it a distinctive flavor.

I like to slightly grill the bread before spread sauce on it.😋

@UsernameAlreadyInUse I thought about doing that, but I was too lazy....🤣🤣🤣
