Let’s talk about pizza

Specifically, Chicago deep dish. Have you ever been to Chicago and tried it?

Jesus.

There is still a piece of that pizza living in my colon somewhere.

It’s true. You get to a certain age, and your body just says, “Nope. We can’t digest that anymore.”

Eating deep dish now feels like throwing a tennis shoe into a dryer.

You know that sound?
Clunk… clunk… clunk…

That’s my insides right now.
Sometimes I’ll just be walking down the street, minding my own business, and suddenly I hear it:
Clunk… clunk...

…Chicago!

Ever have the Sicilian pizza or better known as the sfincion style
PHlover19701 · 56-60, M
@HumanEarth Yes, Ive had sicillian pizza. Its good too. Never heard of it referred to as sfincion. There used to be a pizza at the restaurant Sbarro called a stuffed pizza. Not to be confused with the stuffed crust pizza of today. Think of a stuffed pizzed like two pizzas one on top of the other ...facing each other.. so all the toppings are inside. That was alotta pizza, lol

Yes I've had Pizzeria Uno deep dish on Ohio St. In the early 90s. I wasn't eating just thick pizza I was eating bricks that sat in my gut for 3 days.

@WillaKissing that was my last trip to the windy city. I won't be going back especially these days
WillaKissing · 61-69, M
@Gibbon You know I have never been to Chicago and never plan on going the same with NY city, and LA yuck!
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@WillaKissing I did NYC once. That was enough. They can have that concrete 💩 hole

Skip the deep dish and go straight to the stuffed!
My personal favorite is Foxe's, Chicago thin crust. ❤

Let's not.
I bought one of those frozen ones... all I could see was the thing swimming in grease.

Yeah... I'm too old for my body to handle that much grease anymore.

Try eating a Sicilian Garbage Wheel 🤣🤣🤣 if you think the Chicago Style one was rough
@HumanEarth Food, garbage and Sicilian/Italian don't belong together in the same sentence.

That pizza was so rough that even STBX said "Never again"... and that's saying something.

Honestly, Hooty, think of Sicilian pizza or sfincione, if you want to sound fancy.

It's essentially a savory focaccia that decided to wear tomato sauce as a hat. It comes in a big rectangular sheet, cut into squares, with a crust that’s thick, spongy, and airy on the inside but beautifully crispy on the bottom because it’s proofed right in an oiled pan

Traditionally, the toppings are kept simple and elegant. A big full flavor robust tomato sauce often mingled with onions, anchovies, and oregano, sometimes barely any cheese at all, and frequently finished with a dusting of breadcrumbs for texture.

Sure, here in the States we tend to smother it in mozzarella, but let’s be real....the star of the show is always that incredible, bread-like crust. And if you think that’s heavy, Hooty, don’t even get me started on trying to eat a “Sicilian Garbage Wheel”; if Chicago deep dish feels like a tennis shoe in a dryer, that thing feels like swallowing the entire dryer, lint and all! 🍕🤣
