The best McDonald's in the world is apparently in Wales!

According to The New York Post, UK Michelin-star chef Gareth Ward declared that the McDonald's in Welshpool, Wales, was not only the best McDonald's in the world, but one of the top three restaurants in the country.

This story was also covered by the British periodical "The Sun." Here are some excerpts, which show that this McDonald's is certainly not like others. Truffle mayonnaise? Succulent beef? And it was not just this one chef who praised it.

-----------
Speaking to us about this McDonald's restaurant that has made such an impression on the renowned award-winning chef, he said: "Welshpool McDonald's. I'm telling you now, Welshpool McDonald's is on a different level. It's just got different [elements] to everyone else. [It's] just absolutely smashing it. Last time I had a crispy chicken and it definitely had [something like] truffle mayonnaise on it. I don't think it did, but it tasted like it did. Everybody I speak to says this is, by far, the best MacDonald's in the world. Welshpool McDonald's that's what it's all about."

The food itself has been described as even more delicious than other McCafes people have been to, with succulent beef and piping hot chips.

And so, with other reviews on Google and Tripadvisor praising it with an equal amount of high regard - "The staff are polite, the service is quick and the food is fresh... This one is different.", "One of the best McDonald's I've used" and "Best Macdonald's I've been in. Fresh and juicy beef (wasn't expecting good meat at McDonald's), quick service, table service. We got greeted at the door

@DrWatson I love the reference of The Sun being a 'British periodical'. It gives a slag mag undue weight. :)

@Thodsis The New York Post is not exactly Pulitzer material either!

Ain't they the same everywhere lol
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Matt85 no they couldn’t sell the crap they serve in the USA if they were

The Welsh sense of humour is impressive.

As is the gullibility of one American journalist.
The laws make the food more food like everywhere but in the empire of earlier death and endless wars.

I can't find anything in the various articles and reviews to support his claims, other than unusually good customer service. I think he must have been drinking at the time 🙄

@SunshineGirl to be fair, unusually good customer service would be easily enough to qualify as the best McDonalds in the world

now that is sad. however, i was in Shanghai and i was sick of chinese food so when i found out there was a mcdonalds, i hunted it down. i have eaten Burger King in Madrid. weird menu

I wonder how big that bribe was? If its true, its clearly not sticking to McD Franchise standards, at all

Wales had a ton of great restaurants when I was visiting there last

I wonder what they serve there that sets them apart. I’ve read that no one in other countries outside of the USA would want McDonalds food if it was the same as here.
WanderlustCat · 36-40, M
The burgers are actually better there tbh. Staff are paid more than in North America too.

Being aware of Welsh cuisine this honour isn't quite amazing as it should be.

Doesn’t say much for his cooking, does it?

That's depressing actually
That's cool and all, and not to rain on the parade of the Welsh, but it is still McDonald's. 😆
