I had a dream

In the world of dreams, everything is symbolism. In this case, if you are killing someone in a dream, it is because you wish you had more control or more power over your own life, and you feel powerless.

To kill strangers in a dream means that you feel a generalized sort of threat, or a general sense of fear.

Houses in dreams represent us, and our own lives. Houses represent security, comfort and familiarity. The fact that in your dream you are taking someone else's house means you feel that your OWN house lacks these crucial elements and your subconscious mind feels you have to steal them, (as one solution to the problem).

If you are beating or attacking someone in the dream, and it is a man, and he just won't die, then there is probably a man in your life from whom you regularly feel criticism or hostility.

The fact that you gave up and quit beating on him because he wouldn't die means that you would LIKE to give up, in real life.
