I've always found terms of endearment kitchy and feeling like they don't have any meaning when the sentiments aren't mutually returned.

To me, everyone at work is 'mate'. Oi mate. Hey mate. How are you mate? Go talk to ol mate over there he (or she) will fix you up. Stuff like that.

Romantically, when I used to try using terms of endearment with my ex's there was little to nothing given back in response. Like gestures of romance and love held little to no meaning.

No. I do not like the name honey!! Are you friends with prettybrat. Maybe they can call you dear and you call them honey.
My friend, but her name IS Honey. That's what her parents named her.
If the vibe is right ... sure 😌

I sometimes my youngest, “my honey” or my(his name).” I might at times with young kids too minus the “my” of course.. That’s it.
sometimes, jokingly, i will call my lady "honey", and then i eyeroll back.
I call people hun sometimes. I know people don't like being called names of endearment anymore but screw it.
Sometimes, but legitimately can't stand being called "hun." That shit makes my skin crawl.
