What did you want as a child, but have never had.

Somebody mentioned a peach melba earlier, @BabyLonia, and it reminded me of childhood holidays at Pontins.

There was an icecream parlour that sold Banana Splits, Peach Melba, and Knickerbocker Glory. I always wanted a Knickerbocker Glory because it looked cool in the big tall glass.

I never got one though because it was too expensive. Still never had one 😂

A peaceful home.
A pony of my very own.
My own bicycle.
My own bedroom and bed.
To have friends.

@LunarOrbit

Tell me about it - I had 4 sisters. All older and who had better be obeyed or else.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@rinkydinkydoink Poor you!
@LunarOrbit

They're all gone now but I was half-joking, really... (they'd've appreciated my little dig)

I was desperate for a Candyland board game, and as a very literal child I watched the age range on the box and informed my parents every year on my Christmas list that I was one year closer to being unable to play the game. I don’t know why it never occurred to me that they would have to play it with me and were much older. 😂 Regardless, I imagine that last year was met with completely opposite reactions between them and me. 😆
kodiac · 22-25, M
@kodiac As an adult, you have one finally. I know it is not the same, yet it is loving and strong and more. I wish if I could have one wish...that you could have the family you wished for, Kodi. Lots of love and light and love.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@PoetryNEmotion Thanks for being part of it
@kodiac Thank you for being family, Kodi.

A jeep. I dont know why. But even as an adult ive never gotten one. As a kid i saw myself driving a jeep with no doors on it then i grew up and realized that i could die and be thrown from the vehicle 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@AngelUnforgiven I think I'd agree. Jerps were cool as kid, but never crossed my mind to buy one.
Moonpenny · F
I wanted piano lessons but we couldn't afford things like that. As it happens, my hands are so small, I can't even span an octave 🤭

(Hey up, me duck! How are you keeping?)
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Moonpenny We always had cheap versions of things from the market
Moonpenny · F
@Lugwho I know the feeling.
Happy new year, anyway!
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Moonpenny Happy New Year 😊

A trampoline and an in-build personal pool where you could actually swim. 😆
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@CrazyMusicLover still in planning
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Lugwho I must say that my view on a personal pool changed a lot as an adult who would have to maintain it. 😅 Still, it's an amazing thing.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@CrazyMusicLover Yes, I think someone to do the maintenance would be essential
A sparkling personality. I still don't...
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@rinkydinkydoink It's a tricky one. I know how you feel
@rinkydinkydoink You can develop that. Try. No one can do that FOR you.
@PoetryNEmotion

Here's the "catch" - as a child I wanted to belong. As for now - not so much so a sparkling personality is something I can do without :D

There's the truth and there's the whole truth for any statement or situation.

When I was a kid,if ya asked my if we could have something he'd say when our ship comes in..so I thought there was a big,crewless ship That would wash ashore on Jones beach..🤦‍♀
They'd call ya up..

Lugwho · 56-60, M

Trucks and walkie talkies. My mom refused to buy them for me
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Jenny1234 My youngest son always played with dolls. I think his first words were almost I'm gay. He's 20 now and nothing has changed.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Lugwho I think people playing with dolls will make them become more gentle and loving adults and parents too so good on you for nurturing that
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Jenny1234 Thanks. 😊

A proper Scalextric set.

Not one of those cheap ffigure-of-eight ones that they flogged in the market...
I wanted a dollhouse.
And a real family that loved me. I think I wanted the latter more.
2ndtimeguy · 61-69, M
Any of the cool toys they advertised on TV for Christmas!!
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@2ndtimeguy It was always the cheap copies from the market for me
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
I wanted a windshield on my tricycle. I was about 3 or 4

A Harley Davidson.

I had to wait a few years for that :)
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@Nimbus I always wanted a Raleigh chopper. Not quite the same, but I never got that either.

I had so many friends that spent entire summers in Cyprus. I felt like I missed out on some magical thing, then realised I had better holidays at home.
@Lugwho They spent their days in the village visiting family. They never spent time at the beach.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@V00doo The dreaded family visits 😬

@Lugwho Mine was an alkie too as am I, in my experience alkie religious people tend to be abusive as well, I feel for your wife, it's a horrible way to grow up.

I think you should have a knickerbocker glory and report back to us...
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@AntisocialTroll I don't think he was abusive. Her mother spent a lot of time in psychiatric hospitals, so not an easy childhood.
