What is one thing you can never cook well no matter how hard you try?

Tomato sauce for Italian dishes. I don't know why but I don't get it right. Something is always missing and I never know what.

Here is my recipe for tomato sauce...or as we say here...spaghetti sauce.

4 large (28 oz) cans kitchen ready tomatoes, crushed, (Pastene)
1 can tomato paste (Hunts)
2 large onions, diced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
4 Tablespoons olive oil
1 bay leaf
1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
6 hot Italian sausages
6 sweet Italian sausages
1/4 cup of honey

Spray the bottom of a large stock pot with non-stick Olive oil cooking spray, add the olive oil, and saute the onions on low heat, adding the garlic during the last couple of minutes. Garlic should not be browned.

Brown the sausages in a huge frying pan, turning frequently, OR bake them at 375F for 50 minutes, turning once.

Add the tomatoes bay leaf, Italian seasoning, honey, and cooked sausages and stir well. Simmer on low heat for 3 hours, stirring frequently, (every 15 minutes).

The sausages impart their flavor to the sauce, thus making it MORE delicious!

@ButterRobot That depends how many sausages you put on each plate, and depends on the amount of pasta on the plate, and whether the person likes a LOT of sauce, or just a little.

I would say it easily serves 12 people, and if there are people there who eat less than my family used to eat, it could served up to 16.

But, as I say, you make this once and freeze it in small freezer bags, and you can bring it out one serving at a time.

Chocolate Fudge. I am the only person in my family that can't make it.

I have that same problem, trying to make it from scrap completely. No canned stuff.

I can’t bake for shit. I once tried making conchas for my wife on her birthday and it was a disaster. I felt like such a failure, lol.

@Ducky Oh those resemble japanese melonpan almost.
Ducky · 31-35, F
@deepblacknothingness I know what that is (I’m a sucker for Japanese culture) and thought so until you mentioned it. It totally does! 😱

@Ducky I had no idea there was a mexican variant. I need to track some down to try.

Large Turkeys

Then again, it seems like very few people can, they're often over cooked and dried.

@sstronaut I'm guilty of overcooking
Often I don't get potatoes for potato salad right. I either over or under boil them. I've tried everything. I just don't get it.

Cinnamon rolls, too tough. I think I must be over kneading the dough. I should try to make them again but less kneading.

Cheese sauce...Most of the times it breaks.
