The importance of the countryside pub

is to chase away isolation and loneliness, and they are indeed becoming endangered in Western Europe

When we visited England a few years ago, we spent most of our time around London. We did manage to wander the countryside for two days, and we totally enjoyed every pub we visited. They among our favorite parts of the trip.

What's it got to do with Brendan Gleeson, whoever he is? And there are still plenty of countryside pubs, if not quite as many as there used to be.

@val70 The number of pubs overall is certainly declining. Having known some of them, I think that might be a good thing! But the largest number of closures are in urban areas, especially in districts where the majority population doesn't drink.
