Is sparkling flavoured mineral water, like peach, considered water or soda?

Like do u get hydration from it? Because I've heard that soda goes into the beer cathegory where u don't hydrate with it.

I buy that stuff sometimes. It has a very mild flavour and no diuretic effect. I sometimes take a bottle when I go cycling - either that or lemon tea.

@supersnipe thanks. All the water pallets were empty, so this is what was left and tonic water

Soda, at least to me.

Lightly flavored water is just that, water.

@samueltyler2 Even if it's carbonated?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sarabee1995 yes. To my way of thinking, water becomes soda when sweetenrd, colored and other asorted chemicals are added.

If it's "sparkling" then it's carbonated which means it's soda. That's literally the definition.

That doesn't mean it's bad though. And if you get hydration from it, then who cares if it's soda?
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@sarabee1995 yeah, but I meant like coca cola and stuff, I heard that it doesn't hydrate u the same as water. So I wasn't sure if it's the sweetener or what.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sarabee1995 as per google adding sweetener makes the big differrnce

@samueltyler2 I would have thought that any peach flavouring - as in the OP's example - does contain sweetener.
