Different nation, different trading laws, but I have never seen a cafe in Britain that does not display the prices.
What does make me wonder though is why our public electric car chargers do not display the cost of the electricity (by kW/h). As far as I can see these are almost the only things that do not: all liquid and gas fuel filling-stations must show their prices prominently.
The only major exception to no prices shown appears to be builders' merchants, who carry a very wide range of materials whose prices are liable to fluctuate fairly rapidly.
Perhaps your cafeterias do not need show prices by law, but as you suggest, it is poor business practice hard to comprehend.

Do your chargers offer more than just payment by 'phone? The EU made the choice compulsory while the UK was still a member, but our government did not transpose the Directive into UK Law as it was meant to do. Some charger manufacturers do now fit card-readers as well, but I don't if by law or voluntarily.
