Would canned chicken go well for Chicken stroganoff?

I'm trying to find a simple dinner idea. I have a box of Hamburger helper stroganoff, but no hamburger defrosted. I have a big tin of canned chicken, wondering if that might be an ok substitute?
Or .would a tuna sandwich and soup be better??

I am not a big fan of canned chicken, I don't know if it's the texture or what but it doesn't hold up well. I'd go with a sandwich and soup over canned chicken.

I don't really trust canned chicken, but I would still eat it if it was just me and that's all I had. I would add spices to it though. I personally wouldn't give it to guests though. But maybe that is because I saw some really gross canned chicken before, so I might be biased.
Might work ..I hear it make a great chicken salad if you get the liquid drained off .. Matthew McConaughey's recipe is on the web
Hamburger helper also makes a tuna helper. I would give tuna a try. I bet it's the same thing?

Can chicken isn't for a chicken dinner but not bad in chicken salad or chicken and dumplings.

One of my favorite meals is spiral macaroni and cheese. After the pasta is cooked I add the butter, milk, and cheese powder, and then two cans of tuna. Mmmm.

You could use the canned chicken and stir in the cream soup, too, just make sure you drain that chicken well.

I use it for jambalaya, so it should work fine.
I always do. Fresh chicken is not that easy to handle especially when trying to measure

@urbancowboy You always use canned chicken in general, or in Stroganoff?
@Coralmist Stroganoff you can use canned chicken too. You can also use tuna in place of that

I don't see why not, just drain it and add some seasonings to it
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
I think that would be good. Only one way to find out for certain.

Should work. Make sure to drain it very well or it will water down your dish.

Also, it might bring in salt, so maybe reduce the salt in the rest of the dish until you've added the chicken and tasted it. Can always salt while it's simmering.

@RosaMarie Unfortunately the Hamburger helper packet of sauce seasoning mix already has salt, but I could just put 3/4 of the sauce mix😀
RosaMarie · 46-50, F
@Coralmist you can always add more later. Those are already so salty, yikes.

It should be fine

I have used canned chicken for Chicken Cacciatore before a couple of times. It worked very well.
