No ! I had chemo today and just checked my blood sugar level and it was 278. I am not a diabetic but the steroids they gave me before the chemo started has caused my blood sugar to spike. I didn’t a high carb meal today, did have about 10 strawberries and one kiwi fruit and some homemade trail mix though. I’ve had a dull headache since I came home from chemo and that’s why. I’ll get up and walk around and try to walk it down.

@cherokeepatti Aww I'm sorry. Cheese is a good low carb snack, eggs, and yes trail mix. I'm sure it'll come down slowly now. Do you mind I ask what kind cancer do you have?

@Coralmist stem cells from the colon cancer that I had reappeared around the surgical area…so I am calling it colon cancer. I had adrenal cancer at the same time as I had colon cancer and they removed that a year before they removed the colon cancer. I had 2 cups of chamomile tea at chemo (no sugar added), a small yogurt with stevia, a few strawberries and one kiwi fruit (kiwi is also a berry) 2 small beef sticks (low carb), the trail mix which was mostly nuts, 4 small almond crackers, some roasted chick peas, large coconut flakes, very few pieces of dry fruit to add some interest and a small bit of 85% dark chocolate. Then had gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza and steamed broccoli with carrots for dinner.

I will drink Matcha tea early in the morning as it is said to be helpful to lower blood sugar and take walks around the block if it isn’t raining, then check to see if it helps. I don’t think I’ve ever had a blood sugar level that high. Two weeks ago I checked on the evening after chemo and my blood sugar was 148 and I was concerned about it.

I just had surgery yesterday myself for a double inguinal hernia (on both sides). Did not expect how hard the anesthesia would hit me, could barely get into the truck my wingman took me home in, and barely made it upstairs. The dual-side pain in the lower gut is strong, but manageable and now on Tramadol + that Codeine/Tylenol 3 compound after having my first post-op soup since fasting 24 hrs. Slowly getting better.

But nowhere near what you're going through. I sense there's an angel on your shoulder. You're one tough cookie, inside and out! 🥠

@PatKirby People that I know keep remarking that I am strong. It feels different this time, my hemoglobin levels are near normal now, and my primary care doctor sent me to a rheumatologist in April. He suggested turmeric and bromelain for inflammation and arthritis pain and I started on that. He also suggested using ceramic cookware and not cooking on high heat. I got my inflammation and pain down now. We are all eating a huge amount of salads each daily, a lot of cruciferous veggies, plenty of lean proteins, sugar-free stevia sweetened yogurt and I’m making smoothies when we want something different for breakfast, using blueberries. Eating berries instead of sweeter fruits is good to lower carbs and those berries have vitamin B-17 which is also known as Laetrile (banned in the USA for cancer support), cruciferous veggies are cancer fights as are the all the foods with beta carotene (vitamin A) that we are loading up on. Ray’s energy seems good, he is still running the car lot business. He has been eating the same foods I make and he has salad at lunch and some lean protein, beans etc. at the car lot. And we are both taking care of one another the best we can, we also have our grandson and he is helping us a lot, he has his drivers license and Ray gave him a car so he runs errands etc for us.

@PatKirby I hope you have someone checking on you or helping you get around. It isn’t easy to recover from surgery and to go home and be on painkillers and do everything for yourself.

@PatKirby I will add you to my prayer list 🙏🙏🙏 I will pray for a quick and speedy recovery.
