What comes to mind when you think of American food?

There are ingredients and dishes that have been a part of American cuisine for thousands of years. Hamburgers and hot dogs have only been here for a couple hundred.

The eclectic nature of it. I love to travel and explore regional cuisine. I’m very much a foodie and am always looking for that next new-to-me dish, and the best way to find it is to get out there and eat where the locals eat.

Probably corn. I had a friend from El Salvador tell me she thought it was weird that Americans ate corn by itself.

I think of millions of obese people who think food is entertainment.
Any of it that is good really came from somewhere other than the US

e.g., «southern» red rice came from west Africa

@Ferise1 almost every euro food is from somewhere else . Pasta came from China . Potatoes from South America , coffee, chocolate , etc..
