Went out to dinner alone

I used to do it often before COVID . But I've only gone back into a sit down restaurant a couple times since COVID began. My sister has two autoimmune disorders and her doctor said she's at much more risk of dying than a regular person. Luckily the strains have diminished in strength. So I went into a sit down restaurant tonight alone and it was nice being waited on. Lots of people mingling and laughing. But it always stings a little being alone, even though I don't mind. No one around me is ever alone.. everyone is with a partner, spouse, friend or family.

I hope I can meet an old friend I have not seen in 30 years!!! I'm just so damn nervous. I'm not doing great in life and I feel shame. She's doing very well. But anyway I'm working at overcoming this because it would be wonderful to meet and laugh like we did as kids!!

I know it's just an opinion but it's not nice to feel shame because you're not where you'd like to be in life. Maybe you should be proud that you have made it this far despite all the things I'm sure you've had to deal with. Maybe she had it a bit easier. I think

@Infamous607 I do get what you mean. Sometimes I wonder how I'm here, alive. But I'm struggling on most parts of my life, so you end up feeling shame, the mind clings to negative beliefs. I'm working hard at altering my perspective on myself..ty friend 🌼

@Coralmist I understand. Plus negative feelings and bad habits are sometimes the tools we've developed to you know deal with stuff.
Good luck my friend.

I am at a vibrant diner eating Sunday brunch.

I, too, am alone. Except for chatting on here!

There's no shame in doing things solo. Why miss out on things because people are unavailable?
