It's just a chain not a real restaurant. Chain restaurants often make me nauseous. I think it's because they reuse the cooking oil for so long or just buy inferior ingredients. Competition is so fierce between chains that they'll do anything to make a profit even sell dangerous products. Burger King once had milk shakes that were pretty good. Now they sell a "milk shake" with 0 dairy product in it. It tastes like someone put sugar in dry wall mud and mixed it up. The government really needs to crack down on these companies.

@HobNoblin a business that sells food that you can sit down and eat in is a restaurant. Your opinion of the place doesn't change that fact. Just pointing out the obvious.

I haven’t seen them around lately, but I remember them as Big Boy restaurants with car hops as well as sit down. They were once very popular for their breakfast buffets. Always on the higher ends with good food, nice menus and good service. Sort of like IHop, but better.

@MarmeeMarch The Shoney's in Central Ohio disappeared in the early 1990's.
SethGreene531 · M
Enjoyed their breakfast buffets.
Good memories of early morning stops there on roadtrips.

There aren’t any nearby where I live, but I remember stopping by them occasionally en route to visiting family in other states.

It has been decades since I ate at Shoney's. The only thing I remember is their strawberry pie. Everything else was forgettable.

@SomeMichGuy When I was in college, I ordered their "half pound of ground round" because it was cheap and filling.
SomeMichGuy · M
@exexec I can def see that.

Breakfast buffet was the best. It’s been years though since I’ve been to one

We have one but I noticed that the food is not as good as it was.

I think there are VERY few locations left...but they look like an average sort of place with average food. They have menus and photos online.

I liked it in the tv show supernatural. Angel used it to drive his angel pursuers crazy. An infinite Shoneys.
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
I liked them a lot, but they disappeared in Ohio in the 1990's.
Hannahjay14 · F
They closed for the one we use to go to.

I used to work there when I was a teen. I miss the breakfast buffet!
Redbeard · 56-60, M
One upon a time, they had one of the best breakfast buffets which were better than Frisch's Big Boy.
dale74 · M
I used to eat there
redredred · M
I’ve eaten there. I’ve not eaten there twice.

I aven't heard of that place since like the 90's.
Isn't one of those finer restaurants like Sizzler and Ponderosa?

There is a location in Branson, Missouri that is still in operation.
The restaurant equivalent of the color beige.
