Food prices will cost even more next year...how do u like them apples?

Not just apples, everything!
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I recently went on EBT (food stamps) and all my food is free. I am eating so much healthier and feel so much better! Unfortunately my rent went up outrageously and my Social Security payment doesn't even cover my half of it. My days are numbered. If i don't get government housing by September I will be homeless. I won't last a week on the street.
Wiseacre · F
@hunkalove here landlords can only increase rent 3.5% per yr...maybe look for another place.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@Wiseacre Even in New York City, the greed capital of the world, landlords can only rause rent 5%. No rules like that in Denver.

They keep making billions in profits though.

All by design to destroy the West, you’ll own nothing and be happy!!!

i hate those apples
The poor get poorer. We have to prioritize. We have to save money. I am working on expanding my gardens. Anything one does to self-sustain is helpful. Our wages are not increasing. So we must make changes to survive. We cannot stop the prices increasing. We just have to live more wisely.
deadgerbil · 22-25
Corporate greed
Wiseacre · F
@deadgerbil all greed
The solution for that is obviously to build a wall so the ones that tend to the apples ( and all produce picking and raising...and who works in the meat packing plants) are more restricted each year from coming into the U.S. to do those shitty low paying jobs. Like now. But hey............it gives American kids jobs at minimum wage. I bet those American kids are standing in line to fill out those applications, huh?

@anythingoes477 i got to quit listening to biden talk i guess🤦‍♂️
And sorry you got hurt🙂
@Virgo79 Hurt? ;-) Only the cult gets "hurt" if someone speaks bad of their Jesus. The rest of us just live life...........some times with,,,,,mostly around the stupid that walks among us.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@anythingoes477 sounds like a personal problem to me

Like everything we purchase, food prices have soared way beyond inflation rates and will never return to pre-pandemic prices. Like always, the public will continue being screwed by industry and greedy investors.

This, by in large, is driven by the Stock Markets and the greed-driven investors.
Then maybe it’s time to start using smaller vendors.
metaldog · 51-55
@Colonelmustardseed how can they compete when they have huge rents
@metaldog If more people buy from them than large corporations, they’ll make rent.

Virgo79 · 61-69, M

We are finally paying for the COVID shutdowns
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Ambroseguy80 More like the trillions handed out to corporations and billionaires in form of loans, immediately forgiven
Gardening works wonders when prices soar, just plant a seed, and enjoy wholesome organic food.
@Wiseacre Ha, ha, Wiseacre. I corrected my typo.
Wiseacre · F
@cinsac I do grow some herbs
@Wiseacre KGB, or parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme?
popmol · 22-25, M
unfortunate ;(
I'm not happy about it. But I don't think I have any choice. I'm not growing my own food. Maybe I could find a co-op somewhere.
Wiseacre · F
@PhoenixPhail that would help..do u have food banks?
@Wiseacre Yes, there are some food banks in neighboring areas. Also some co-ops, I think, which I used way back when. The food was excellent - all organic.
A hunting and fishing license costs around 30 bucks for both.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@LoneVoice or if possible just hunt your own property😉
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
Isn’t everything always at least a few pennies more every year though?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Gee, and in the past that never happened?
Wiseacre · F
@ChipmunkErnie not as much
DDonde · 31-35, M
how it goes
tenente · 100+, M
greed-flation plain and simple
MethDozer · M
Until we neuter the rich this is how it goes.
