Who does this guy, "Dave" think he is?

He's there showing off his muscles, calling his bread "killer".

You read the label and it turns out Dave hires ex-convicts. He is proud of this.

So what happens if you don't like his bread?

I am assuming he and his convict buddies show up at your house and kick your ass for saying anything against the bread, man.

The reason for such a high rate of return for convicts is because they have such a hard time finding work and places to live. So i have zero issue with that.
I first learned about Dave when I lived in Portland. He spent 15 years in prison, and wanted to turn his life around when he got out, so he went to work at his brother's bakery. He started selling much better quality bread than the usual grocery store fare (at a higher price) and was very successful. I remember being impressed with it when I first tried it, and the quality is just as high today. The company was bought out by Flowers Foods in 2015 and the bread is now sold nationwide. He also started an organization that promotes the hiring of ex-cons, which apparently reduces recidivism by providing them with gainful employment.

The story isn't on the company website anymore, but he didn't go to prison for murder. It was mostly drug offenses. The story was nuts. He would literally be arrested in one county, released on bail, then get arrested in a different county, and because their recordkeeping systems weren't compatible, they had no idea and would release him again.

I asked my shopper to pick up some organic white bread, and she came back with a lopsided loaf of Dave's. It was the color of wheat bread, with little seeds in it. It was a challenge to make a sandwich with one side high and one side low.

I began buying it a year or so ago and have found it to be about the best packaged bread on the market - in the U.S. anyway.
