Supermarkets continue to gouge customers

My favourite Scotch Finger biscuits - up 30%
Loaf of bread - up 10%
Milk - up 11%
Tomato sauce - up 8%
Meat up 10%

Will these prices come down?

Supermarkets arnt to blame, inflation is... they are just passing on their inflated cost onto the customer , which is the way it should be
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Tminus6453 Supermarkets are paying producers a pittance for their produce and selling at up to ten times what they paid.
Inflation is at 7%, everything is rising well above inflation.

@Gusman Why werent supermarkets "gouging" customers before the economy went to shit?... you think all of a sudden supermarkets got together and schemed against their customers during a recession? lol......Inflation is well above 7%, but the MSM will never tell you that...

@Tminus6453 ^this
There is no "should be". It's just what people are willing to put up with and not. One can try to put it (inflation) on others as you say. Sometimes people go out of business so it doesn't always work. @Tminus6453
No one is shopping at bed bath and beyond right now. I'm surprised they're even still in business but prob not for long. But groceries are hard to avoid buying.

@Spoiledbrat Well if any business has to pay more for goods and they dont charge their customers more to cover that cost all business' would eventually go out of business
But the people choose what they are and aren't willing to spend their money on. @Tminus6453
I don't expect businesses to not make money but they don't have to take everyone else's.

@Spoiledbrat Goodluck finding low prices during a high inflation recession
I just look for food that is reasonable. I don't expect there to be no increase at all. @Tminus6453

@Tminus6453 Still rather strange that Woolworths made $1.5 billion profit in the 2021/22 financial year.
Coles only made a paltry $1.048 Billion profit in the same time frame.

@Gusman And how much did they pay in taxes.....local, State, and Federal?
They don't have to pass the whole cost on. They should treat their customers fairly. @Tminus6453
Gusman · 61-69, M
@sunsporter1649 The profit is after tax.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Gusman So?
Gusman · 61-69, M
@sunsporter1649 So? Obscene is what it is.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Gusman I agree, all the taxes they pay is obscene, drives prices thru the roof
