@calicuz it's really thick. More like polenta than soup. Porridge. It's a uniquely Cuban thing and one won't see in most Cuban restaurants.

@CopperCicada Cuban food is comforting . That kinda food that ceases your hunger for 10 hours straight . And it’s very flavorful. I love going to Cuban restaurants. And also Puerto Rican ones 😋.
@4meAndyou well sometimes we have great food and sometimes the sanitary conditions are not good. we have an active restaurant inspection teams that shuts them down if they are not clean.
I've never had Cuban food, TBH. I looked it up and there is a Cuban cafe about 40 miles from here...and I don't think I want a 2 hour round trip unless I know it's awesome.
You can get Mexican food everywhere in southeastern Massachusetts, and I do love Mexican food.
There was a nearby Cuban restaurant, but unfortunately it had a fire, closed, and never reopened. An interesting taste of something different and pretty good.
I've not had enough cuban food to really compare, but I do love me some Mexican! Might be that is because I was raised in a small California farming town and ran with, ate with and had tons of Mexican friends when I was young. If you know anything about Mexican families, you get drawn into the family and they are always eating! Best damn food anywhere and the love you feel when siting around a table makes it just that much better.
