Right wing white people who complain about a fictional mermaid being black

Imagine how it felt having white actors playing historically non-white people?
You know...actual people who lived.

Okay, get this through your head, because I'm tired of telling literally everybody who talks about this, so this is my final announcement to everybody.

It's all bad. Changing a basic feature like that of an established character or a historical person is bad. Regardless. It's not a fucking racist thing. It's a "Jesus Christ, are you too lazy to create your own strong characters of color?" thing.

@LordShadowfire They whine about purposefully designed, brand new characters as well lol. See the black elf immediately before the mermaid controversy.

@Elessar Yeah, and you notice I'm not defending that. I complain about redesigns of existing characters because it's uncreative, and let's be honest, it's pandering. The folks in charge of the Lord of the Rings TV show did exactly what I've been saying they need to do for years. They created a new character of color, instead of randomly changing the race of a character. I support them.

@LordShadowfire but why can you not change the race or gender of an established fictional character?

Can James Bond be black? .... he's been scottish and irish why not black, or asian?
