How important is financial security to you?

Got into an argument with someone over this so now I'm just curious what people think.
Becoming more the older I become. You can see your finite existence coming closer and your working days becoming numbered; especially as a labourer. I can live on very little though, not very materialistic, I just desire the freedom to do what I want, and chase my passions. A little pillow of a kind in your bank also helps you focus on the things you love.

@thewindupbirdchronicles Your post (2 days' ago) was very philosophical, in my opinion. It's was reflective and sensitive.
@sree251 Sorry, I deleted my response as I feel I misread your words. Sorry about your situation and something I personally want to avoid in life. I wasn't using freedom in a sense I can do anything I please but more upon the things I define. I won't touch upon the broader topic of ecological/society constructs as I wasn't diving that far into the subject.

@thewindupbirdchronicles Apology not necessary. We are here to share our thoughts regardless of what they are. I am thankful I have you to talk to. We don't have to agree. Just talk.

Very important -- I like to eat and to live indoors.
Ramrod · 46-50, M
Very important,i enjoy having enough money to buy the things i need and want without thinking if i have enough money,a nice car, vacations, paying bills without worring if there is enough money in the bank,i am reaping the rewards of working , :)
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Ramrod Working to pay for what you need and want? How about getting what you need and want without having to work for them? Working for rewards is for beasts of burden.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I don't give a shit about being rich, but I want to be stable and that's extremely important.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula Being stable IS being rich. How rich you are is academic.

Light and darkness. Rich and poor. Life and death.

First it meant a lot so I could provide for my children. Now it means a lot so my children dont have to provide for me..😷

Honestly, financial security is the #1 reason I stayed with my abuser and at a toxic job for over a decade.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Roundandroundwego It's a tough life. We don't get to choose our situations. If you think we have it bad, just think of the animals we farm and slaughter by the millions everyday.
@sree251 they can use a welfare state, too. In one state of western Europe animals all have a right to a good life. And in most, they don't. It's the people who choose as a group.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Roundandroundwego So, how's it going with you? Are you still getting kicked around? Is your situation better now and you are free to live without getting abused?
Piper2023 · 26-30, F
It really important
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
I thubk womans should give all their moneys to mans and not has a single penny for their selve.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
For my self or a partner?

It's important to give me some peace of mind. I don't need a lot of money or expensive things but I do like to avoid the anxiety of financial worries.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@JimboSaturn Having to pay bills implies living within the grid. It's a zero sum game. Never enough money to go around. If you have enough, even just barely enough to get by, someone else won't make it and suffers the anxiety of financial worries till he bites the dust.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@sree251 It is unrealistic to think that you can have everything you desire. Our species and living things in general share this reality.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@JimboSaturn I don't desire anything other than basic food, clothing, and shelter. Other animals have no desire other than those of mine. Ok, they don't have clothing.

Never was when I was younger. Never had an obvious career path
NovaNine · 56-60, M
It's important and necessary in this modern world in order to survive comfortable. You can survive without that but it will be very hard and full of barriers/pay walls. Trust me I've struggled with this nearly my whole life.
DisappearingTide · 31-35, M
It’s pretty important to me because I would like to retire young enough to do a bunch of the things in life that I enjoy. I’ve seen too many people retire at an age where they don’t have the energy to live life anymore
ShadowDancer · 41-45, M
It can be useful when they put the price of Eggs up!
sree251 · 41-45, M
@ShadowDancer Yup. The eggs I buy are 8 bucks a dozen. They cost about 70 cents each after taxes. I have three for dinner and that works out to only $2.10 a meal. That's half the price of a Big Mac.
ShadowDancer · 41-45, M
@sree251 This is the most detailed Egg story I ever heard :)
sree251 · 41-45, M
@ShadowDancer Eggsactly!

I know I'm supposed to be like the lilies in the field but I'd want to be one that's gilded in gold first. ;)
Confined · 56-60, M
I like having a roof over my head and food on the table.
Financial security is very important.
Lostlostlost · 51-55, M
It makes life more comfortable and then you can concentrate on other things
deadgerbil · 22-25
Very important. Not interested in being destitute and living on the streets.

Very important. It’s never too soon to plan ahead
It’s everything. I’ve volunteered in enough homeless shelters to know it’s not something to take for granted.
Tminus6453 · M
It ranks #1 on my list
IamBack · 31-35, M
I mean it’s definitely important, but whether it’s the main reason you’re with someone, that’s the real question 🤷🏻‍♂️
I don't think Americans would let financial security be for everyone. So it's war.
ArtieKat · M
What was your stance in the argument, @gabisart
gabisart · 26-30, F
@ArtieKat that it's really important
chrisCA · M
Very important.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
not so much. I can live in a van on pennies as long as I'm doing what I love.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Fairly important. I don't need to be über rich, but I definitely want to live comfortably.
