How important is financial security to you?

Got into an argument with someone over this so now I'm just curious what people think.

Honestly, financial security is the #1 reason I stayed with my abuser and at a toxic job for over a decade.

@Starcrossed Good reason. Nothing wrong with that. Even a baby has no choice but stick with an abusive mother.
@sree251 Cosby loves capitalism for you. So did Harvey Weinstein.

@Roundandroundwego What are you insinuating? We Americans have been abusing the rest of the world with our foreign wars, killing millions and subjugating others according to our geopolitical will in the name of defending our freedom and democracy. We dominate the world and forcing it to be dependent on us. And you see Harvey Weinstein as the bad guy?
@sree251 nah, just one among many. Like when I stayed with an abuser because I'd have no home for his kid if we left. He actually kicked me in the rear, out of the blue. Welfare states help people have choices. Nobody thinks we can have civility without. I think it's time to say that out loud so we can get there.

@Roundandroundwego It's a tough life. We don't get to choose our situations. If you think we have it bad, just think of the animals we farm and slaughter by the millions everyday.
@sree251 they can use a welfare state, too. In one state of western Europe animals all have a right to a good life. And in most, they don't. It's the people who choose as a group.

@Roundandroundwego So, how's it going with you? Are you still getting kicked around? Is your situation better now and you are free to live without getting abused?
