What u think of Stephen King as a writer?

Piper · 61-69, F
That he is a very good and creative writer, who is likely capable of being an even better one than he sometimes is.

talented. not my usual genre, tho. i read Skeleton Crew and Misery
The Stand, The Shining, It and The Dark Tower series were pretty epic. Endings are not his always his strong suit. But he’d probably say “it’s the journey not the destination,” or “Ka is a wheel.”

@stratosranger I loved that whole series and anything connected to it!
I read the Dark Tower series several times (and Wind Through The Key Hole). The ending still sucks but the journey was epic @SW-User

I’ve read a few of his books. My favorite is “The Stand.” He’s a great writer, but the majority of his books have too much horror for my tastes.
The Stand, The Shining, The Dark Tower are awesome @Carissimi

He's a very good writer. Plots are good, characters are great, and he does a great job of drawing the reader into his imaginary worlds. I kinda wish he would break out of the horror genre more often.

Some of my favorite books, but usually it's his short stories that really get me. The Jaunt gutpunched me for a week

@Stereoguy The concept of eternity is my existential fear...so it reallllly hit me hard

Some interesting plots, but terrible prose. I prefer watching movies based on his books to reading the books themselves.
The movies based on his books are better but he is a creative writer for sure

I find his writing extremely impressive, particularly his short stories. There is not a poetic flow that keeps the reader invested (in my opinion) but rather a sort of cynicism in the narrative voice of his work, and the plot breaks down that voice until it and they reader are left thinking darkly

Stephen King the author is the best

@Helloeveryone I'm listening to an audible of salems lot

Not too fond of him or his books.

Most of what I've read by him strikes me as a good 200 page story expanded to 300 pages for no reason. But he always struck me as amazing good at conveying the world of children.
a fizzer fire cracker.

all books start off graet with a tonne of potential.
then die in the ass like a dud cracker.

I've never seen his handwriting and not certain if he is left or right handed.

@Stereoguy That I know, about them having a home here in this state, and not all that far from the area I've lived since 1990. Although it's been about 20 years since I've seen him in person when his wife Tabitha was inside picking up a prescription from the pharmacy where I worked, he has been to the public library in my town, to support and raise money for. The one I've been going to check out books from for 18 years.

That was just around 6 years ago, and he was photographed...filmed by local news channels, and he does not look like the man in your photo. He has a very distinctive face, still.

@Stereoguy I'm not much of "horror" fan, either, except for the kind Stephen King writes. I thought you might want to know that the man in the picture you posted as him, isn't. 🙅
DDonde · 31-35, M
You know, I've never actually read any of his books.
I've seen movie adaptations though.
