realy depends on what it is and where... can be nice to terrifying to awkward
DrWatson · 70-79, M
Personally, I do not understand what attracts people to them (and yes, I have heard the explanations.)
But....c'est la vie!

As a former art major, I find tattoo art pretty lame and somewhat cartoonish for the most part.
I have looked at a lot of it, trying to find redeeming qualities. I guess I am an art snob in that respect. I've only seen one or two gorgeous colored flower tattoos that were both realistic and subtle enough to appeal to me on a woman's lower back. And then I think to myself, "Boy, she had better stay REALLY thin ALL of her life or that nice flower is going to turn into a wandering vine.
Maybe I am such an art snob because I hate the idea, for myself, of being locked into ONE piece of really not very great art for the rest of my life, like my poor son.
He went nuts when he was sixteen, and now has a very disgusting demon with no face tattooed on his upper arm, a fading blue dagger on his ankle, and a Celtic arrow on his forearm. The bear paw on the back of his neck was obtained later...another unfortunate mistake.
I particularly dislike the tattoos that are SO crowded and done only in black or blue ink that they crawl all over a person's arms or legs...bad art that leaves no room for anything. It makes a person look...marred. Spoiled.
That being said, I LOVE the Maori tattoos on Dwayne the Rock Johnson's chest...simple and not crowded. Good design.
And I am intrigued by Tyrus's arm tattoos which appear to be Celtic in origin with lots of tiny writing inside the main design. I wish I could read the writing.

Not a fan
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
I hate them. Ew
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
I have both and I like both.
I don’t think it should be something that a person does for anyone but themself.

I have both, I like mine. I can’t worry about what others think.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
Self expression is a beautiful thing.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
I'm not a huge fan of piercings, honestly. Tattoos are kinda cool depending on the context, but it really depends on the person and the piece. Like if its just a generic tattoo that means nothing except a fashion statement, its boring. But an actual design that means something can be amazing to look at
robingoodfellow · M
Like piercings. Tattoos are fine if there's a sense of pattern or theme. Too many people look like they drew stuff here and there on their bodies like a doodle pad.
Funlov · M
@robingoodfellow yes and you got a pay up my arms are both done I’m sleeved and I probably have close to $7000 per arm invested
robingoodfellow · M
@Funlov art has it's price
Funlov · M
@robingoodfellow you bet

I love my tattoos. I don’t have any piercings besides my ears. But my body art tells my story.
edtur61 · 61-69, M
Don’t like head face or hand tattoos not really big on piercings
Funlov · M
@edtur61 so I’m sleeved mine come down onto my hand, but that’s OK. You don’t like it. I understand that but back about eight years ago I got a motorbike built by Jesse James in the states and I got to meet them so on the palm of his hand, he has a dollar bill and I is other hand it says pay up I thought it looked really cool
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
I love them. I have 8 piercings and getting a tattoo soon.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@AnonymousJSS where are your piercings?
Eternity · 26-30, M
They are as good or as bad as they look 🤷🏽♂️.
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
They can be great enhancements to a body's beauty.
TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart · 22-25, F
I’m not into either even though I do have a couple piercings.
Funlov · M
All good
SUPERVlXEN · F
I have them.
huskyguy89 · 31-35, M
I have an ear piercing. Want to get my eyebrow done again, I miss it..even have considered a nose piercing. Three tattoos, but I want a lot more. i love ink, and I love piercings. :) It's just something I've always liked. I like seeing other people with them.
Funlov · M
Here’s the problem with people that have piercings or tattoos. Mostly people like me that are sleeved they judge they don’t know anything about us, but they judge somebody on here a week ago. Some girl went crazy, looking red hair, and glasses said that people were tattoos intimidator she must be intimidated by looking in the mirror then if somebody with a tattoo scares you somethings wrong.
Bartleby · 51-55, M
I’ve seen good ones and bad ones. It’s all about the execution.
redredred · M
No thanks. I can’t find a picture I want on the wall for six months and I’ve got enough holes.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@redredred Very wise.
Thespis · M
You do you! I really appreciate them as art, I get very into checking tattoos our and seeing the artwork and time put into them.
SatyrService · M
once,, long ago,, they were rebellious and edgy. I lliked that a lot
now? you can get them at a shopping mall. the uniqueness has faded
just another fashion fad
Oh ,, gosh,, I hope you dont feel insulted,, not EVEN my aim, was just responding honestly to your question.

I like some tattoos but not big ones and not too many.
Piercings can be cool, cute but again excessive piercings seem silly to me.

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
A lot of criminals are caught due to being identified by their tattoos.
Funlov · M
@cherokeepatti and a lot of ordinary people like me that own companies that raise children have them as well. I’m sleeve them, both arms people that judge people with tattoos got a lot to learn in life.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Funlov It’s like graffiti on a nice building to my eyes.
Teslin · M
They are not for me personally, but to each their own. In my opinion, some are beautiful. Some, not so much.
Holidaze · 18-21, F
They're said artwork, but from ten feet away tattoos look like huge skin blemishes. Piercings are weird. I already have the right number of holes.
Spoiledbrat · F
For me small and just a few or one but I won't get any because I'll regret it and it's not me.
Ducky · 31-35, F
I love them! I have several tattoos, but no piercings, even though I love them even more.

SW-User
Like everything in life, I've seen good ones and bad ones.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Personal choice. I have both but they're covered by clothing.
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
Most piercings are icky. A well done tattoo that has meaning, or at least there is a fondness for the subject, are usual pretty cool. Placement matters though.
acpguy · C
Neither I or my husband are big fans of them.

I have tattoos, but they’re mostly private and represent milestones in my life. The only piercings I have are in my ears. I wouldn’t pierce anything else, personally. Someone with a pierced lip once accidentally scratched me with their jewelry, which wasn’t pleasant. 🙁
Rainandforest · 26-30, F
It's alright, it's improve our look. I have flower tattoos under my boobs

Interesting people calling tattoos trashy…
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@SW-User In many societies, tattoos have religious meanings.

SW-User
@DrWatson exactly. To just call anything trash without understanding is odd to me
pdockal · 56-60, M
Don't have tats but enjoy them on others
Used to have ear pieeced but don't necessarily like some of the places people get then
