School Uniforms

Shorts should be a uniform option, given the heat. But common sense seldom trumps bureaucratic rigidity. Just like I understand the purpose of school uniforms -- to reduce the competitive peer pressure, particularly among the girls, in clothing that generates into outright bullying -- but then the bureaucrats tend to turn a blind eye to how the students skirt (pun intended) the rules as long as they meet the letter of the rule. So the end result is it all becomes about regimentation rather than egalitarianism.

Pretty sure I read this.Was he wearing the same shorts as for sports at the school?He got sent home to change.
When I was in high school the boys had to wear uniform but us girls didn't.We were asked to wear skirts no shorter than just above the knee.Some vote taken back in the day.So in good weather I wore shorts a lot.and often left my feet bare ,no teachers bothered at all.When I took my exams I wore shorts with bare feet.A more common sense school environment back then.

I think that school uniforms are a bad idea anyway. Let the children wear what they want as long as it isn't indecent.

Clothes should be appropriate for the task being done or the environment. Shorts are perfectly reasonable if they are smart.

It is ridiculous, boys and schools and men in the work place get a much tougher time over dress codes.
