In your opinion, does this girl have good or bad fashion sense/style (I know it’s quite hard to see the whole outfit.)

BlueVeins · 22-25
She looks like she's not trying (which is fine).
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Oh, erm we were kinda on our date day@BlueVeins
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I wouldn't call it fashion or style at all. It's just ordinary clothing. Which is okay with me. The wind-jacket looks convenient. Shoes look a bit out of place to me. Like the rest is quite sporty but shoes are more on the decent/formal side.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Ok, the outfit was more ‘put together’ than it looks, the photo doesn’t quite do it justice. She had a Ralph Lauren polo and Ralph Lauren cable knit jumper (and a joules gilet underneath the jacket as it was cold) This is her dressed for a nice lunch out.@CrazyMusicLover

Looks like grandma
Strongtea · 22-25, M
It is vintage, she collects designer handbags@CrazyMusicLover
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Strongtea What's the brand?
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I’m not sure, it’s not something crazy expensive, she has a lot of Radley bags@CrazyMusicLover
Coralmist · 41-45, F
Completely good outfit. Who cares if we are not wearing some high style thing that say a celebrity would? I go for comfort myself but Im not wearing sweatpants everyday or anything. This outfit is cute. It doesn't matter truly what shoes someone has on, what bag..what matters is how I feel when around them. If they are a kind person or maybe easy going. That means much more..in my opinion.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Hey thanks for that, it’s a long story why I asked this question. She’s my girlf and she is very into how she dresses, but not everyone agrees with her style. She is actually wearing some very expensive items (Ralph Lauren) but she would like your kind words.@Coralmist
Strongtea · 22-25, M
[image deleted]Here is another example, it’s maybe a better photo.
Monalisaa1986 · 36-40, F
@Strongtea it doesn’t show any of her curves
Strongtea · 22-25, M
She doesn’t really like to show off,she kinda hates girls that do@Monalisaa1986
Monalisaa1986 · 36-40, F
@Strongtea well it’s not showing off it’s just showing what she has
Ceinwyn · 26-30, F
That’s a man
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Oh, ok. That sounds like a diss?@Ceinwyn
Ceinwyn · 26-30, F
@Strongtea If you say so
Strongtea · 22-25, M
No, I just thought you were dissing. Sorry for taking it that way!@Ceinwyn
It looks terrible .
@Strongtea oh 😳
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Again thanks for being honest, I’m just a bit gutted that my girlf comes across as badly dressed. Hopefully just a bad photo as those are both outfits that she regularly wears.@SStarfish
@Strongtea ok 😬
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
She's not standing straight so this picture does not make her justice as she comes off as a grandma.

On the other pic she looks beautiful!

But I notice she adds her personal vibe and a bit colour and I like that. It's bold.
YellowJello · 26-30, F
Not good nor bad. I can tell it’s a bit vintage but the whole outfit could be layered better and the colours could be chosen differently in my opinion
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Yes I do get what you mean, she has great taste in individual items, but often doesn’t put them together well@YellowJello
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Why delete the pictures? Makes the post a bit pointless.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I kinda deleted them by accident as I didn’t realise (long story) they were of my girlf but everyone slated her outfits 😢@ninalanyon
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Strongtea
I didn’t realise (long story) they were of my girlf
That must be quite a story. :-)
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Haha! I can see that looks strange! I realised they were of my girlf! Just not that I’d deleted them@ninalanyon
onewithshoes · 22-25, F
Not bad. I like her shoes, and thank goodness her jeans are clean and not torn.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Thankyou, she’s my girlf, so it means a lot that you took the time to comment. Those are her favourite shoes so she would be very pleased!@onewithshoes
I’d give it an average. I’ve seen much worse and much better.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I mean it just looks like she values comfort over style.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
To be honest she does talk about being comfortable as something that is incredibly important but she’s also very looks obsessed. Shopping for clothes is her favourite thing to do!@DearAmbellina2113
I don't like way the pants fit over the shoes but it's nice..
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Thanks! That’s my girlf so it’s super nice that u like. It was the first day she had worn those shoes so she tucked the pants in as they hurt a little.@Spoiledbrat
HannahSky · F
You're obsessed with how people dress. Don't be like to a gf.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I find it really interesting@HannahSky
Sevendays · M
Yeah, really nice. 🤭
Sevendays · M
@Strongtea just giggling. The jacket is old style
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I suppose it’s a bit sensible, it’s her favourite waterproof.@Sevendays
Sevendays · M
@Strongtea that's what matters
Lilymoon · F
Not for me but everyone has their own thing
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Ok, you are right@Lilymoon
ExtremeNext · 31-35
Love it 👍

Bad fashion
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Strongtea
She’s told quite a few people that they were dressed badly and they told her to look at herself.
Commenting negatively on someone's choice of clothing is pretty much guaranteed to get a negative response unless it is very diplomatically worded.
not sure where to go from here
Perhaps you both should just examine the reasons why each of you dress the way you do. Try to identify any pressures from family, friends, employers, colleagues, church, clubs, etc. Then decide which, if any, of those pressures are good for you.
she does dress very conservative
What counts as conservative is culturally determined. Women wearing trousers in the UK and America used to be regarded as scandalous, and not really that long ago. And the influence of those times are still with us; for instance see this from 2021:
For the first time in its 182-year history, women will be allowed to wear trousers to the Henley Royal Regatta.

The Oxfordshire -based rowing event has updated its dress code for the Stewards’ Enclosure, so women can wear “jackets or blazers with trousers, or trouser suits”, as well as jumpsuits and culottes – but only if hemlines fall below the knee.
..
Incredibly, a 200-year ban on women wearing trousers in France was only overturned in 2013. Of course, it hadn’t been strictly policed, but it was still there. Plenty of schools still enforce a skirts-only uniform for girls, and female flight attendants on Virgin Atlantic couldn’t wear trousers until 2019.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Wow! That’s incredible! I know we shouldn’t make negative comments about what other people wear, but she has strong opinions on clothing/fashion. I’ll think about what you have said though@ninalanyon
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Strongtea Don't forget the other plausible scenario: your girlfriend really is dressing exactly how she wants and the rest of us are just over thinking everything. My excuse is that I'm an engineer and I was paid to work out all the gory details, the habit is hard to break!

Do what is right for the two of you, regardless of the opinionated people here (myself included of course!).
