Anyone have clothes that they own and still wear that are older than you are? I have a winter cap that my mother knitted for my father before I was born that I still wear every winter.
Not that I wear but I have a dress that my great grandmother made me when I was a little girl and my first pair of shoes. I don't know why I keep them though tbh. I guess I just loved my childhood and miss my fam. I try not not to keep clothes older than a few years but I used to have some work things that I finally let go of. They were like 15 years old.
I have a blanket my mom crocheted when she found out she was pregnant with me. I have a heart neckace with little black stones she wore at that time also I wear occasionally
@awhitedot memories are precious My mom also crocheted an afghan for each of my sisters and I and out children right before she passed away. She finished mine just days. I keep it tucked away safe. Want to keep it safe forever
@Bexsy it made sense. 😁. Yeah, the love that goes into those kind of things is special and have so much meaning. Im actually wearing the hat now and smiling about it.
I have a 1950's elegant silk nighty and dressing gown that looks like its straight out of a Fred Astaire and Gingers Rogers movie. A vintage corset. A pair of Flapper shoes from the 1930's-ish. And one or two other classic pieces from the 40's/50's.
Oh, and a fox fur stole ...undated. And a pair of kid skin gloves my mum gave me.
If i had my way, half my wardrobe would be older than me😅
@awhitedot same. You really need to scour those sorts of shops regularly.
And....it can get addictive . Im never gonna show anyone my wardrobe ....its embarrassing , 5 things on each hanger crammed in so hard its like an Olympic sport getting something out😂
I have a sheer black shirt from my mother which I love and wear a lot and there are some of her coats and dresses from the 90's too and purses and scarves. Until some years ago she had her shoes from her wedding but they were in a box somewhere and got mould but I'd want to try them hahah
I do. I have a very old vest that was my great grandfathers, and a sweater my grandmother knit for my grandfather. I wear them both on occasion. The vest is probably from the 1920s or 30s.
I have an adorable thin chain belt that my mother owned before I was born in the late sixties. I love it and I always get complimented on it. It never seems to go out of style
@awhitedot my best strategy would be to buy so many clothes that I don’t ever wear the same thing twice during summer.. 🤔 and keep the dirty clothes sealed away until the bugs die off..
