Charlie Kirk...

People, people... It is OK to be happy that someone's dead, it doesn't mean you indulge violence. It just means that you have a rational head on your shoulders, if the guy was a little shit.

I have to say that I disagree on this one. It's an ugly human quality to be glad when someone is dead, particularly if they have an innocent wife and children. I could agree if the person had committed horrific acts but that's not the case here. He was no murderer, no rapist, no abuser. He had very strong and , to some, controversial opinions and was somewhat of an antagonist. I can think of many like that who I don't agree with but I wouldn't be happy about seeing their blood spilling out from a neck wound as they're assassinated.
@Nightwings @ostfuidctyvm this was really healthy discourse i wish more users could do this thank you love to you both
@TryingtoLava You too Lava 🤗

@Montanaman Why are you hijacking this conversation as if it's about you too? I still don't want to be your friend. 💀

I don't think it's a good thing. That said, I'm very aware that a lot of the people incensed by it have called for the death of political figures or people they disagree with before. It happens to one of theirs, so they're reacting strongly. But go on X any random day and you'll see tons of death threats directed at various people. Now it actually happens for real and suddenly online rhetoric matters. Why didn't it matter before? Why is it normal to wish death on people you disagree with? I was watching a video from a political streamer I like and he was sharing that he gets people threatening to kill him every single day and he accepts it as part of the job. It's sick that it has to be that way.

I think we should all stop talking so lightly of violence and death, even if it involves someone we didn't like.

I was indifferent at first but found out something.

There is a drawback to his passing - he was wanting the Epstein files to be released.

I do not know how much "pull" he had in politics but he could have possibly been a force that would have torn MAGA apart from the inside.

That does not mean I agree with his values. Just that he could have taken down an even worse guy.

Given Kirk's age, it is safe to assume he was not on the list.
Ik it looks like i keep contradicting myself but my stance is simple i think he was terrible but this was not justified to create change
@TryingtoLava And social media topics or debates give nothing towards helping.. I remember listening on the radio yestersday how ugly today was in violence, they wanted a different world, I had no clue in news. I read yesterday morning coming on here, what I would expect someone suspecting an assinaation and the host thought to say, can we have a moment, can we be human, can we not have a moment someone died and someone is killed before we dishonour them? Can we pay respect? He even said, I have lost people in my family, I'm on an air personality, and I know I'm that controversial, but people need to understand when they talk this way they are hurting somewhere, they don't know their family or the grief they are feeling.
@awildsheepschase after 48 hours ive aged like 30 years im taking a break for a few days til this is over

Imagine if Vladimir Putin died how many people would celebrate.

Nobody would be "decrying political violence".

Sometimes, someone is a bad guy and their death isn't a shame. Where you decide if someone is a bad guy is down to your personal politics.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@CountScrofula Anytime someone passes, no matter who it is, people often suddenly act like they are sad.

For some odd reason, they would probably act the same for Putin.

One drawback about Kirk though, he was wanting the Epstein files released.
I know he was often vile but he MIGHT have been the missing link that could have torn MAGA apart from the inside.

I hope this post gives you the attention you so desperately desire. Your life might get better one day, but I doubt it.

A Tale of Two Presidents

(shamelessly stolen from @DrWatson)
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@ElwoodBlues Because Obama is a good man. He was a good president, one of the best.

Trump is... well we know.
@HoeBag It;s also said Trump is only doing what previous presidents did already, and the only difference is his language. As of two months ago into Trumps second term Obama had deported more. The difference was in the language and even the historian asked, are we living in a time where you can say what you are going to do where the previous orator would do, and even more, because he found a way to sell the purpose.

In a way it's the same time, but one learned to sell through hatred. I'm not sure deporting, introducing drone war fare is a peaceful loving president no matter how great of an orater he was.
